Tips to get the best Currituck rental home experience:
Getting the most from your spending budget:
- Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer vacation rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are high season in the Currituck area. To book the most suitable vacation home within your budget, we highly recommend booking in Fall or Spring months. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at Currituck restaurants, tours, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months.
- Some hosts offer discounts for veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special discounts are available for your group before you book.
- Booking websites frequently offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Find a copy of your local Currituck visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great information, visitor guides contain money saving offers on local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- First and foremost, have your group commit to a vacation week and a max budget.
- Note the number beds and the bed configuration you need. Bo's Bungalow: Short Walk to the Beach

Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to establish which bed configuration is suitable for your vacation family.
- If your family is vacationing with pets, you'll need to find a property that allows animals. Get details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Be aware that some property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
- Are you visiting for a single event or attraction? If so, use a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
More tips for your stay:
- Add the owner's phone number to your phone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, intercom or WIFI setup. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent a lot of difficulties.
- Lock your rental property while you're gone! Don't let thieves spoil your holiday.
- Record any damages to the property during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are valuable if a dispute is filed.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be an excellent source for finding the best local spots.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected all personal items. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the rental a final time and scan for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the host isn't available, remember to take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Remember to leave feedback! Property owners rely on great ratings to drive new bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your experience find their best vacation rental. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
