Strategies to get the perfect Currituck vacation property experience:
When to book & When to go:
- Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- To find the most suitable vacation home for your budget, we highly recommend reserving in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at restaurants, beaches, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Currituck vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Ask your property manager if special discounts are available for your group before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Find a copy of your local Currituck visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great information, travel guides have coupons for nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Planning, picking, and booking your prefect Currituck vacation home:
- Start by choosing your a vacation week and a maximum budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Sound Of The Sea: Private Pool & Spa, Sound View has 5 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, reach out to the property management company before you book the rental. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- If your family is vacationing with pets, you'll need to search for a pet-friendly rental. Ask for details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Note that some property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
- Visiting for a single attraction or event? Try a map search to find nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking.
Some things to know before you go:
- Get the property manager's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property. Put the host's information in your smartphone.
- Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Lock your rental property while you're gone! Don't let thieves spoil your holiday.
- To make sure that damages are not linked to your stay, make a record of any problem areas during arrival. message the rental manager right away to document any damages. If there is a dispute, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Respect the neighborhood. Often times, surrounding homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- At departure, take a final walk-through to confirm you haven't forget anything. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property one final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, take video and pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- After your trip, leave a review! Hosts rely on good reviews to propel more reservations. They'll be grateful for your review.
