Our top Rental booking tips:

Getting the best value:

  • To get the best rental home for your budget, we suggest reserving in Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at the beach and popular Currituck attractions.
  • In the Currituck area, The earlier you can reserve a home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental properties are booked early. Reserving your vacation property up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your vacation home.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your group qualifies for a discount.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer customers an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
  • Find a copy of your local Currituck visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitor guides contain offers and deals for nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.

How to choose the perfect rental in the Currituck area:

  • Choose a group leader, choose your vacation dates, and choose a budget.
  • Pets OK has 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is regularly accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, reach out to the property owner before booking the vacation property. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to establish what configuration is optimal for your family.
  • If there's a particular Currituck destination you are enamored with, keep an eye out for homes that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your desires.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, and some don't. Allowable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the property management company about allowable breeds and types before booking.

Tips for a smooth stay:

  • Be sure you get the owner's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental.
  • To ensure that damages aren't attributed to your visit, make note of any problem areas upon check in. Get in touch with the host immediately to relay your findings. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents lots of problems.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are a terrific resource to find the best local attractions.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Lock your rental while you are out. Protect your property!
  • Double-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items on check-out day. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the property a final time and look for damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, take pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Leave feedback! Property owners rely on good reviews to inspire future bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other families will appreciate that you share your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
