Strategies to get the perfect Currituck vacation rental experience:
Sticking to your budget:
- Summer is high season in the Currituck area. Reserve your Currituck vacation home in Spring or Fall to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season.
- Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Some owners offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if rate reductions are available for your group.
- Property management companies often offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
- Find a copy of your local Currituck visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guides have offers and deals for local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- First, have your family commit to dates and a max budget.
- Decide how many beds and the configuration your family needs. The Hidden Gem: Hot Tub, Private Pool, Currituck Club Amenities has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts is usually accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, call the host before you book the property. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds. You will need to establish what bed configuration is optimal for your vacation.
- Visiting for a specific event or attraction? Use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
- If your family is bringing pets, you'll need to search for a property that allows animals. Ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Usually, property owners charge additional pet fees.
More considerations for your visit:
- Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the directions to your smartphone.
- To make sure that damages aren't attributed to your stay, record any problem areas when you arrive. Speak to the property manager right away to relay any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be useful.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be respectful. Often times, surrounding homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Lock your vacation home while you're out and about. Keep your property safe!
- Double-check the rental property to confirm that you've packed all personal items at departure. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Leave feedback! Property managers rely on good feedback to propel future bookings. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
