Tips for getting the best Currituck rental experience:
Cost saving strategies:
- Summertime is high season in the Currituck area. To get the most suitable rental within budget, we highly recommend reserving in Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at popular attractions and restaurants. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Currituck vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- The sooner your group can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best rental homes are booked early. Reserving your rental property up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your rental home.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your group qualifies for a price reduction.
- Property managers often offer renters an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Currituck area visitor guides which often include special deals, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Currituck visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Selecting the best vacation home:
- Choose dates and max budget.
- Game Room has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally available on booking websites. If they are not listed, email the host before you reserve the rental. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to establish what bed configuration is right for your vacation family.
- Visiting for a single attraction? Use a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking.
- Are you bringing the family pet? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Pet fees or charges may be applied to your agreement.
Tips for your stay:
- Be sure you get the owner's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your .
- Upon check-in, document any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the owner. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually an excellent resource to find the best local attractions.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Keep the property locked while you're away! Don't let thieves spoil your family vacation.
- Upon check-out, complete a final walk-through to confirm you did not forget any personal items. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Remember to leave a review! Property managers rely on great ratings to propel more reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your experience find their best rental home. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
