Tips and Tricks for getting the best Corolla vacation home experience:
How to get the best value:
- The earlier you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental properties are reserved early. Booking your vacation rental up to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental property.
- June, July, and August are high season in the Currituck area. To find the best vacation home within budget, we strongly suggest booking in Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at Currituck restaurants, beaches, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Currituck vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your family qualifies for a price reduction.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer renters an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Look for your local Currituck visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, travel guides have deals for local restaurants, attractions, and tours.
Planning, picking, and booking your prefect Currituck rental home:
- First and foremost, have your family agree to date ranges and a spending budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. 1 min walk to the beach with pool an hot tub has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is often available on booking websites. If they are not listed, email or call the host before reserving your home. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to determine what is best for your vacation group.
- Some rental properties allow pets, and some do not. Acceptable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the property management company about your furry family members before booking.
- Are you looking for specific amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. .
More considerations:
- Take a copy of the host's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your . Store the host's information in your smartphone.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Protect the property owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are gone, just like you would at home.
- Document any damages to the rental at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are valuable if damages are assessed.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually an excellent source for finding the best local beaches and restaurants.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Just prior to departing, take a final walk-through to make sure you didn't leave anything behind. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Walk through the property one final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, take video and pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a fantastic stay? Many rental management companies make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property manager was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was defective and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
