How to get the best rental home experience:
When to go & When to book:
- Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer months are high season in Corolla. Booking in Fall or Spring months is a great way to save money on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable homes. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Currituck vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Hosts sometimes offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. Check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Booking websites frequently offer customers an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Look for your local Currituck visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guide magazines have coupons for nearby tours and attractions.
Planning and picking a perfect Currituck rental:
- First and foremost, have your family choose vacation dates and a budget.
- Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Blue Skies: Private Pool, Spa, Game Room has 6 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed types is usually available on booking websites. If not, email the property management company before you book the vacation home. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- If your family is bringing pets, you'll need to search for a rental that allows animals. Request information on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Often, property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
- If there's a particular Currituck destination you long to visit, search for properties that are either near by, or those that cater to your desires.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. .
Some things to know before you go:
- Add the host's phone number to your phone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, intercom or washer/dryer. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent a lot of difficulties.
- Keep your rental home locked while you are away! Don't let burglars spoil your holiday.
- During check-in, make note of any damages to the property and immediately contact the owner. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often an excellent source for finding the best local attractions.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected all of your things. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the property a final time and scan for any damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- After your trip, leave a review! Property owners rely on good feedback to propel future reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your experience find their best vacation rental. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
