Strategies to get the perfect Currituck rental home experience:
Sticking to your spending budget:
- Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Summertime is the most expensive season along the coast of NC. To book the best rental for your budget, we highly recommend booking in Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at popular Currituck attractions and restaurants.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
- Look for your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitors guide magazines contain coupons for local tours, shops, and attractions.
How to choose the best vacation home:
- First, have your family decide on dates and a max budget.
- Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Beautiful beach house near the Currituck Club golf course in Corolla, NC! has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is often available on booking pages. If not, call the property owner before booking the property. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds.
- Some rentals allow pets, and others don't. Allowable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the property manager about pets before booking.
- If there's a particular Currituck destination you long to visit, keep an eye out for rentals that are either close by, or those that cater to your requirements.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
More considerations:
- Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and save the directions to your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, elevator or kitchen appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent lots of issues.
- Keep the property locked while you're gone! Don't let thieves spoil your holiday.
- To ensure that no damages are linked to your family's visit, inspect for any problem areas during check in. Get in touch with the property manager right away to relay any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud vacationers bothering your peace and quiet. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and places you would've never otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Double-check every room of the rental property to make sure that you've packed all belongings at departure. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the rental a final time and look for damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, remember to take photos of the property to record its condition.
- Did you have a fantastic time? Many rental websites make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or host was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
