Tips and Tricks for getting the best Corolla vacation rental experience:

Getting the most from your budget:

  • To book the best vacation home within budget, we strongly suggest reserving in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll benefit from lower rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at the beach and popular attractions.
  • The sooner you can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation homes are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation property six - twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental property.
  • Some hosts and property managers offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special discounts are available for your group.
  • Booking websites typically offer their guests an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
  • Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Currituck area travel guide magazines that include special deals, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Currituck visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Selecting and booking yourvacation home:

  • Select dates and maximum budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your family requires. Secluded Victorian Beach House in Corolla, NC. has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed types is usually available on booking pages. If they are not listed, reach out to the host before you reserve the home. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to work out what is optimal for your vacation.
  • If there's a certain Currituck beach you crave, search for properties that are either close by, or those that cater to your requirements.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. .
  • Some rental properties allow pets, and some do not. Allowable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the owner about allowable pet guidelines before booking.

Advice for a smooth stay:

  • Add the property manager's information to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • During arrival, make note of any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the owner. Keep records of all coorespondence.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, television set or coffee maker. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents quite a few concerns.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome visitors bothering your peace. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would've never otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically help. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home while you are gone, just like you would at home.
  • Re-check the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items at departure. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your family have a fantastic time? Many rental management companies make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your rental and/or property management company was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was amiss and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
