Tips for getting the best vacation property experience:
Cost saving strategies:
- Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rental homes during holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are high season in Corolla. Book your rental in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months.
- Some property managers offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. Ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your group.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer renters an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Currituck area visitor guides which will include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Currituck visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Filter your rental search:
- Begin by choosing your potential vacation weeks and a max budget.
- Note the number beds and the configuration your group requires. Dogs stay FREE! 2-min walk to beach-2Bedrooms-3Beds -3Baths-Pool-Linens Provided has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually accessible online. Otherwise, contact the property owner before booking the rental. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to work out what configuration is right for your group.
- Remember to include your furry companions! Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional pet fees or applied to your contract.
- Visiting for a single attraction? Use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
More tips for your visit:
- Be sure you get the host's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property.
- Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Lock your vacation home while you're out. Protect your property!
- Record any issues with the rental at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are beneficial if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious vacationers disrupting your peaceful neighborhood. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and places you would have never otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Just prior to departing, complete a walk-through to make sure you haven't forget anything. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Walk through the property a final time and keep an eye out for damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, take photographs of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a wonderful stay? Many rental home management companies make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or host was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
