Tips and Tricks for getting the best Currituck vacation home experience:
Finding the best rental value:
- The earlier you can reserve a home, the better your selection will be. The best rental properties are booked early. Reserving your vacation rental up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your rental.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of NC. To book the largest rental for your budget, we recommend booking in Fall or Spring months. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at local restaurants, tours, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Currituck vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your vacationing group qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Property management companies usually offer their guests an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
- Find a copy of your local Currituck visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great information, travel guides contain offers and deals for nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.
Planning, picking, and booking the perfect Currituck rental:
- Choose vacation dates and maximum budget.
- Note the number beds and the configuration your family requires. Don’t Worry, Beach Happy at Beacon Quarters has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Currituck rentals search.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally available on booking pages. If they are not listed, call the property owner before booking the vacation property. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches. You'll need to determine what is optimal for your group.
- Remember to include your furry companions! Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Extra fees or may be applied to your agreement.
- Looking for specific amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find your ideal rental.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking
More tips for your stay:
- Get the property manager's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property. Put the host's information in your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, television set or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call prevents quite a few issues.
- Lock your vacation home while you are away. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
- During check-in, note any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the owner. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often times, surrounding homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can typically help. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- On check-out day, complete a final walk-through to make sure you did not leave anything behind. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the rental a final time and look for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the host is not available, take video and pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a great stay? Most rental home management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your property and/or property manager was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was amiss and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
