Rental home booking tips:
When to visit & When to book:
- Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer vacation rentals during Winter holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Booking a rental in the Fall or Spring is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable properties.
- Property management companies sometimes offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your property manager if special discounts are available for your group before you book.
- Property managers often offer their guests an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Find a copy of your local Currituck visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guides contain coupons for nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.
Make a plan and pick the bestvacation home:
- Begin by choosing a vacation week and a spending budget.
- Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Mellow For Shore-Built in 2023-3.5 Miles off pavement\n4WD required-AIR DOWN!! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually available on booking pages. If not, call the property management company before booking your home. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches. You will need to determine which bed configuration is best for your group.
- Some rentals allow pets, and others do not. Acceptable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the owner about pets before booking.
- If there's an individual Currituck attraction you simply love, browse homes that are either nearby, or those that cater to your needs.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. .
Tips for a smooth stay:
- Get the property manager's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or WIFI setup. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents a lot of concerns.
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home when you are gone, just like you would back home.
- To ensure that damages are not linked to your family's visit, inspect the property for any problem areas during check in. Get in touch with the host immediately to report any issues. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious visitors disrupting your peace. Employ the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would've never otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Just before checking out, complete a walk-through to confirm you haven't forget anything. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Property owners rely on good feedback to propel new bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your review and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
