How to find the best Corolla rental experience:
Money saving strategies:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Currituck area. Book your rental in Fall or Spring to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Currituck vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- The earlier you can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best properties are reserved early. Booking your vacation home 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental home.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your family qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Property management companies usually offer customers an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local Currituck visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitors guide magazines have deals for local shops and restaurants.
Choosing the perfect rental home:
- To start, have your family decide on a vacation week and a budget.
- Determine how many beds and the configuration you need. White Dolphin: Hot Tub
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often available online. Otherwise, email the host before reserving the rental. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to determine which bed configuration is suitable for your vacation.
- If there's an individual Currituck destination you crave, keep an eye out for properties that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental.
- Are you bringing the family pet? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional fees or costs may be applied to your contract.
Additional considerations:
- Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the directions to your phone.
- Note any damages to the rental upon arrival, and immediately contact the property manager. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be beneficial if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor. Often, surrounding homes are filled by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can typically help. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home when you are out, just like you would back home.
- Just before checking out, take a final walk-through to make sure you did not forget any personal items. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the rental a final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager is not available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a wonderful stay? Most rental home management companies make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property manager was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
