Getting the best Corolla vacation home experience:
When to go & When to book:
- The earlier your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best properties are reserved very early. Reserving your rental up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and book your vacation home.
- To get the largest vacation home within your budget, we highly recommend booking in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at popular attractions and restaurants. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host whether your family qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Booking websites usually offer renters an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Often, rental management companies supply Currituck area visitor guide magazines which include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Currituck visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Use filters to narrow your search:
- Start by having your group choose trip dates and a max budget.
- Decide how many beds and the configuration your group requires. Silence of the Clams: Soundfront\/Hot Tub\/Elevator has 5 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is regularly available online. Otherwise, call the property manager before you book the property. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to establish what configuration is best for your vacation.
- Some rentals allow pets, and others do not. Acceptable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask your host about pet restrictions before booking.
- Looking for unique amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental
More considerations:
- Add the host's phone number to your phone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Lock your rental while you're away. Keep your property safe!
- During check-in, record any damages to the property and immediately contact the property manager. Record all coorespondence.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud visitors disrupting your life at home. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and places you would've not otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Double-check every room of the rental property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items at departure. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Walk through the rental a final time and look for damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, ensure that you take video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Leave a review! Hosts rely on good ratings to stimulate new reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other families will appreciate that you share your review find their best rental home. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
