Tricks and tips to get the best Currituck rental experience:
Find your perfect vacation home:
- Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer vacations during holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer is the most expensive season in coastal NC. Book your rental home in the Spring or Fall to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Booking websites frequently offer guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Currituck area travel guide magazines which often include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Currituck area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
How to choose the perfect vacation home in the Currituck area:
- Start by selecting your a vacation week and a budget.
- Decide how many beds and the configuration you need. Dog-friendly oceanside home in Corolla with private pool & hot tub has 5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally accessible on booking pages. If not, reach out to the property manager before reserving your home. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- Are you bringing the family pet? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Pet fees or applied to your agreement.
- If there's a particular Currituck destination you are enamored with, search for rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater to your needs.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental.
Tips for a wonderful stay:
- Get the property manager's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental. We recommend storing the host's contact information in your smartphone.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Protect the owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home while you are away, just like you would at home.
- To make certain damages aren't attributed to your visit, inspect the property for any problem areas when you arrive. Call the rental manager immediately to relay your findings. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be useful.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often times, surrounding homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Double-check every room of the rental property to confirm that you've packed all belongings on check-out day. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property one final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the host is not available, remember to take pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a excellent stay? Many rental management companies make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your rental and/or host was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was defective and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
