Tricks and tips to get the perfect Currituck vacation rental experience:
Get the most from your rental home budget:
- Summer is high season in Corolla. To get the largest vacation home within budget, we highly recommend booking in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at Currituck restaurants, tours, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer.
- Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner whether your vacationing group qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Booking websites often offer guests an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
- Find a copy of your local Currituck visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitor guides contain offers and deals for local accommodations and attractions.
Planning, selecting, and booking the perfect Currituck rental home:
- First and foremost, have your group select the best dates and a maximum budget.
- Corolla has 7 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is almost always available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the host before booking the vacation home. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to determine what configuration is right for your family.
- If there's a specific Currituck beach you crave, keep an eye out for homes that are either near by, or those that cater to your desires.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking
- Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Additional pet fees or costs may be applied to your contract.
Some things to know before you go:
- We recommend storing the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- To make sure damages aren't attributed to your visit, make a record of any problem areas during arrival. E-mail the rental manager immediately to record any damages. If there is a dispute, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, intercom or thermostat. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call prevents many difficulties.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable visitors bothering your home life. Employ the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would've never otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can usually help. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Lock your rental property while you are away! Don't let thieves ruin your family vacation.
- Re-check the rental property to make sure that you've packed all of your belongings at departure. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the property a final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, remember to take video of the property to record its condition.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Property managers rely on great ratings to drive new reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your review find their best rental home. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
