How to book the best Currituck vacation rental experience:
Money saving strategies:
- To book the largest vacation home for your budget, we recommend reserving in Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at popular attractions and restaurants. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Currituck vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during Winter holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Property managers sometimes offer promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Ask your property manager if discounts are available for your family.
- Booking websites frequently offer guests an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly costs 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Currituck area visitor guides which often include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Currituck visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Narrow your rental Search:
- Start by selecting potential vacation weeks and a spending budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your family requires. The Wheelhouse: Pool and Hot Tub
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, email or call the property manager before you reserve the property. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds. You will need to establish what is best for your trip.
- Are you visiting for a single event or attraction? If so, use a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. .
- Some properties allow pets, and some don't. Allowable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the host about allowable breeds and types before booking.
More considerations for your visit:
- Store the owner's information in your smartphone.
- At Check-in, record any issues with the property and immediately contact the host. Record all coorespondence.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, stereo or washer/dryer. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents many issues.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be a terrific source for finding the best local beaches and hangouts.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Lock your rental while you're away. Keep your property safe!
- Double-check every room of the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items at departure. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your family have a wonderful time? Most rental websites make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your rental and/or property management company was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
