Getting the best rental home experience:

Sticking to your rental budget:

  • Book your rental home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer.
  • The earlier you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are booked early. Booking your rental 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and book your vacation rental.
  • Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your family before you book.
  • Booking websites frequently offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
  • Look for your local Currituck visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitor guides have offers and deals for local accommodations, restaurants and tours.

How to choose the best rental home in Corolla:

  • Select a designated group leader, select your vacation week, and select a maximum budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Oceanside vacation rental steps away from the beach access in Corolla, NC! has 5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Currituck rental home search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is regularly available on booking pages. If not, reach out to the property management company before you reserve the home. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to establish what is right for your group.
  • Is your family looking for particular amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
  • Some properties allow pets, and some do not. Allowable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the host about your furry family members before booking.

During your stay:

  • Store the host's information in your smartphone.
  • To ensure that damages are not linked to your family's stay, inspect the rental for any problem areas upon your arrival. E-mail the host right away to report your findings. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, intercom or thermostat. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents quite a few problems.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud vacationers disrupting your peaceful neighborhood. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would have never otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the property when you are away, just like you would at home.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected all of your things. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your group have a fantastic vacation? Many rental managers make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or host was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
