How to get the best Corolla vacation home experience:

Getting the best rental value:

  • Summer is high season in Corolla. Booking in Fall or Spring months is an excellent way to save money on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Currituck vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Some hosts and property managers offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Ask your host or property manager if discounts are available for your group before you book.
  • Booking websites often offer customers an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
  • Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Currituck area travel guide magazines which often include special offers, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Currituck visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Make a plan and pick the rightrental home:

  • First and foremost, have your group agree to vacation dates and a spending budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your group needs. Life By The Sea - OBX has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Currituck vacation rental search.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts is normally available on booking pages. If not, reach out to the property manager before you book the property. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to work out which bed configuration is suitable for your vacation.
  • Are you visiting for a single attraction? Try a map search to locate nearby properties.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking
  • Some rentals allow pets, and others do not. Acceptable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the host about pets before booking.

Tips to have a fantastic stay:

  • Be sure you get the property manager's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your .
  • Document any damages to the rental upon arrival, and immediately contact the owner. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be valuable if there is a dispute.
  • Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a great resource to find the best local scenic spots.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Ensure you protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental while you are out, just like you would at home.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected all personal items. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the property one final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the host whenever possible. If the manager is not available, take photographs of the property to record its condition.
  • Did you have a terrific stay? Most rental managers make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property management company was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was amiss and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
