Tricks and tips for getting the perfect Currituck vacation rental experience:
How to get the best rental value:
- Booking a rental in Spring or Fall is a good way to save on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable homes. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Currituck vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- In the Currituck area, The sooner your group can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best vacation homes are booked early. Booking your vacation rental up to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and book your rental property.
- Hosts sometimes offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if rate reductions are available for your family.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer their guests an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
- Many management companies supply Currituck area travel guide magazines that include special deals, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Currituck area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Choose a designated group leader, choose your trip dates, and choose a max budget.
- Determine how many beds and the configuration your group requires. Landes Dream: Private Pool & Hot Tub, Putting Green, Volleyball has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts is often available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email the property management company before you book your rental. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks.
- Visiting for a specific event or attraction? Use a map search to find nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking.
- If your family is bringing pets, filter your search for a rental that allows animals. Make sure to ask for details on breed, size, and type requirements. Usually, property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
Additional considerations:
- Add the host's contact information to your phone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Record any issues with the property during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are very helpful if damages are assessed.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful visitors bothering your peaceful home. Use the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would've never otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Keep your rental home locked while you're away! Don't let thieves ruin your trip.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected everything. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your family have a great vacation? Most rental management companies make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your rental and/or property manager was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
