Strategies to get the perfect vacation property experience:
How to get the best value:
- Booking your Currituck vacation home in Fall or Spring months is a great way to save money on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable homes.
- Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Winter holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Some owners offer discounts or promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Ask your host or property manager if discounts are available for your group before you book.
- Property managers usually offer guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Currituck area travel guides which will include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Make a plan and pick yourvacation home:
- First and foremost, have your group decide on trip dates and a budget.
- Note the number beds and the configuration your family requires. The Salty Seahorse!4x4 beach, private dock, hot tub, pool, Horses. Pet-Friendly has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is normally available online. If they are not listed, contact the property owner before booking the home. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to establish what is right for your family.
- If there's an individual Currituck destination you crave, keep an eye out for properties that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
- Do your family pets travel with you? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your rental agreement! Extra fees or could be applied to your invoice.
More tips for your stay:
- Be sure you get the property manager's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental.
- During arrival, document any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the property manager. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful vacationers bothering your peace. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and places you would have not otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home while you are gone, just like you would at home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected all of your things. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the rental one final time and look for damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, remember to take photos of the property to record its condition.
- Did your group have a great stay? Many rental home management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your rental and/or host was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was defective and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
