Tips to get the best Currituck rental experience:
Sticking to your rental budget:
- Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer months are high season in the Currituck area. To find the best value, consider changing your family's Currituck trip dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer pleasant temperatures, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction.
- Property management companies typically offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Find a copy of your local Currituck area magazine upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local information, visitor guides contain deals for local tours, shops, and attractions.
Planning and choosing the rightrental:
- Select vacation week and spending budget.
- Note the number beds and the bed configuration your group requires. For The Halibut: Pet-friendly Condo less than 500 ft. to the beach! has 2 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is normally accessible online. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property management company before you book your rental. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches. You'll need to establish what is best for your vacation.
- Are you bringing the family pet? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional fees or costs may be applied to your contract.
- If there's a particular Currituck beach you long to visit, search for rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater to your desires.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
More tips for your visit:
- We recommend storing the owner's contact information in your smartphone.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Keep the property locked while you're gone! Don't let burglars ruin your holiday.
- During arrival, record any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the host. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be a terrific source for finding the best local beaches and restaurants.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the property to make sure you've collected everything. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Walk through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the host is not available, ensure that you take photos of the property to record its condition.
- Did your family have a terrific time? Many rental home management companies make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your property and/or property management company was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
