Tricks and tips to get the best rental experience:
When to go & When to book:
- Summer months are high season in Corolla. To find the best value, consider shifting your group's vacation dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer pleasant weather, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer.
- In the Currituck area, The earlier your group can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best vacation homes are booked early. Reserving your vacation rental up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental home.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your family qualifies for a discount.
- Booking websites typically offer customers an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
- Find a copy of your local Currituck area magazine when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guides have coupons for nearby accommodations and attractions.
Choosing the best rental home in the Currituck area:
- Start by choosing your vacation dates and a budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Barefoot At The Banks: Saltwater Pool, Hot Tub has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Currituck vacation rental search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is almost always accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, email the property owner before you book your rental. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to determine what configuration is best for your trip.
- Visiting for a single attraction or event? Try a map search to find nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to ask about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Extra fees or costs might be applied to your invoice.
Advice for a terrific stay:
- Get the owner's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your . Store the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- To ensure that damages are not linked to your stay, note any problem areas during check in. Speak to the property manager right away to record your findings. If there is a dispute, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Respect the neighborhood. Frequently, nearby homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can often help. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Keep your rental home locked while you are out! Don't let crooks spoil your trip.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected all personal items. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the rental one final time and look for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the host is not available, take photos and video of the property to record its condition.
- Did you have a great time? Many rental management companies make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or host was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
