How to book the best Corolla vacation home experience:

Get the most from your vacation rental budget:

  • Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during Winter holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal NC. To book the best rental for your budget, we recommend booking in Fall or Spring months. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at popular attractions and restaurants. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager if your family qualifies for a discount.
  • Property managers usually offer renters an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
  • Find a copy of your local Currituck area magazine when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitors guide magazines have money saving offers on nearby shops and restaurants.

How to choose the perfect vacation home in the Currituck area:

  • Select a group lead, choose your dates, and select a max budget.
  • Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. You're Away!: Relax in the very spacious, elegant, custom-built home on a privat has 5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly available online. If not, reach out to the host before reserving the vacation home. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • If your family is traveling with pets, you'll need to find a property that allows animals. Ask for details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Be aware that some property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
  • Are you looking for specific amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental.

More considerations for your visit:

  • Add the owner's information to your phone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent a lot of concerns.
  • Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are away, just like you would back home.
  • Note any issues with the rental during check in, and immediately send them to the property manager. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are helpful if damages are assessed.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful visitors bothering your life at home. Use the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and places you would have never otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • At departure, take a walk-through to make sure you have not forget any personal items. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Property managers rely on great ratings to compel future bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your review and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
