Strategies to get the perfect rental home experience:

Finding your perfect rental:

  • Summer time is high season in the Currituck area. To find the best value, change your group's vacation week to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer warm temperatures, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Currituck vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • In the Currituck area, The sooner you can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best rental homes are reserved early. Booking your rental home 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a discount.
  • Property management companies often offer renters an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which generally costs 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
  • Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Currituck area travel guides which often include special offers, either offered directly by local companies, or through a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Currituck visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Planning and choosing your prefectrental home:

  • Select a group leader, choose your vacation week, and select a spending budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Pet-friendly oceanside Corolla home w\/ private pool & hot tub! has 6 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is regularly available on booking websites. If not, email the property owner before reserving your rental. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • If there's a specific Currituck beach you crave, look for rentals that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
  • Do your family pets travel with you? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional pet fees or costs applied to your contract.

Know before you go:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the directions to your phone.
  • During arrival, make note of any issues with the property and immediately alert the owner. Record all coorespondence.
  • Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious vacationers bothering your peaceful neighborhood. Employ the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and places you would have not otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Lock your vacation home while you're away. Keep your property safe!
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the property to make sure you've collected all personal belongings. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Please make sure to walk through the rental a final time and scan for damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, remember to take photos and video of the rental to record its condition.
  • Leave feedback! Hosts rely on great reviews to compel new bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your review and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
