Located on a peaceful cul-de-sac, this striking oceanside getaway is steps to the path that leads directly to the beach and a close by lake that is ideal for fishing and turtle watching. Savor a roomy living area, 2 levels of decks for shade or sunbathing, and plenty of deck furnishings for outside dining, drinks and calming by the pool. UPDATES for 2024 include new kitchen appliances and decking. Whispering Sands is now part of the Lighthouse Bagels Cottage Program. Guests staying through 9/14 receive a complimentary dozen bagels and cream cheese from Lighthouse Bagels.

However, due to the nature of our area, we cannot guarantee internet will always be functioning, as the Outer Banks can experience outages from time to time. We strongly advise that guests bring their own personal hotspots or other cell service devices to provide internet access, especially if the internet is needed for work or school. Cost saving strategies:

• Summer months are high season in Corolla. To get the largest vacation home within budget, we suggest booking in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at local restaurants, tours, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August.
• The sooner your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best rental properties are reserved early. Reserving your vacation rental 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your rental.
• Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your family qualifies for a reduced rate.
• Property management companies typically offer renters an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gas expenses. • Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home while you are away, just like you would at home.
• Upon check-out, take a final walk-through to confirm you did not forget anything. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
• Go through the property a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, ensure that you take photographs of the property to record its condition.
• Did your family have a terrific time? Most rental managers make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property manager was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
