Currituck vacation rental home tips and tricks:
When to visit Corolla & When to reserve a rental home:
- Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer rentals during holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Summertime is the most expensive season in coastal NC. Booking your Currituck vacation rental in Fall or Spring months is our favorite way to save money on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable properties.
- Some property managers offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group before you book.
- Booking websites frequently offer their guests an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
- Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Currituck area visitor guide magazines which often include special offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Currituck visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Selecting and booking your Currituck rental:
- Select your dates and max budget.
- Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Octopus's Garden: Large Private Pool & Hot Tub, Walk to Beach has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly available online. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property management company before reserving the home. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- Some rental properties allow pets, but others do not. Acceptable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the property management company about your furry family members before booking.
- Are you visiting for a specific event? Try a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking
More tips for your visit:
- Add the owner's contact information to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, intercom or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent many concerns.
- Lock your rental home while you are out. Protect your property!
- At Check-in, document any damages to the property and immediately contact the owner. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Frequently, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking policies is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected all personal belongings. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the host is not available, remember to take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a wonderful vacation? Most rental management companies make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your rental and/or property management company was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was out of order and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
