Tips for getting the best Currituck vacation home experience:
Cost saving strategies:
- Summertime is high season in the Currituck area. Book your Currituck rental property in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Currituck vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer vacation rentals during holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer renters an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Find a copy of your local Currituck visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitors guide magazines have money saving offers on nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.
Narrow your rental Search:
- Select a group lead, choose your dates, and choose a budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your group requires. Spacious & Relaxing w\/ Beach Views, Elevator, Spa has 6 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually available on booking pages. Otherwise, email the property management company before you book your home. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds.
- Looking for unique amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .
- If your family is traveling with pets, you must book a pet-friendly property. Ask for information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Be aware that some property managers charge additional pet fees.
More considerations for your visit:
- Store the owner's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Upon check-in, record any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the owner. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, stereo or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent a lot of issues.
- Respect your neighbors. Frequently, nearby homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Lock your rental home while you are out and about. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected all of your things. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property one final time and look for any damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, ensure that you take photos and video of the property to record its condition.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Hosts rely on great reviews to inspire future bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will will be grateful for your experience find their best rental home. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
