Tips and Tricks to get the optimal rental home experience:

Get the best rental home value:

  • Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summer months are high season in the Currituck area. To find the largest vacation home within your budget, we strongly suggest booking in Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at Currituck restaurants, tours, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Currituck vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
  • Property managers typically offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
  • Find a copy of your local Currituck area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitor guide magazines have deals for local tours, shops, and attractions.

Make a plan and choose the right Currituck rental home:

  • Start by selecting your a vacation week and a maximum budget.
  • Note the number beds and the bed configuration your group requires. Corolla Sunset: Semi-Oceanfront Home Where the Road Ends has 7 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed types is often available online. If they are not listed, email or call the host before you book your home. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to determine what is optimal for your family.
  • Are you bringing the family pet? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional fees or might be applied to your invoice.
  • If there's an individual Currituck destination you are crazy about, browse homes that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental.

Considerations for your stay:

  • Add the property manager's phone number to your phone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Lock your rental while you are out. Protect the owner's property and your things!
  • To make sure that damages are not linked to your family's stay, make a record of any problem areas upon check in. Get in touch with the host right away to relay any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Be respectful of your neighbors. Frequently, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the property to confirm you've collected all personal items. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your group have a excellent time? Most rental home management companies make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your property and/or property management company was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was out of order and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
