How to book the best rental home experience:

Getting the most from your rental budget:

  • Summer months are the most expensive season in the Currituck area. To find the best value, change your family's Currituck vacation to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer excellent temperatures, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic.
  • In the Currituck area, The sooner you can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are reserved early. Reserving your rental home six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation rental.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host whether your family qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer customers an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
  • Often, management companies supply Currituck area visitor guide magazines that include special offers, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Currituck area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Make a plan and pick your prefect Currituck rental:

  • Start by choosing potential vacation weeks and a spending budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. C5058 Close to the Beach! Dogs Ok!Free Pool Heat March through May! Specials! has 7 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually available online. If not, call the property owner before reserving the vacation home. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches. You will need to establish which bed configuration is best for your group.
  • Is your group looking for special amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking.
  • If your family is bringing pets, search for a property that allows animals. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, size, and type requirements. Be aware that some property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.

Tips for your stay:

  • Add the owner's contact info to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • Document any damages to the rental during check in, and immediately contact the host. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be valuable if a dispute is filed.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, intercom or WIFI setup. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents many issues.
  • Be respectful of your neighbors. Often, nearby homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Lock your rental while you're out. Protect your property!
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the property to make sure you've collected all of your things. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the rental one final time and scan for damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your family have a fantastic vacation? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property manager was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
