Tips to get the optimal Currituck rental home experience:

Get the most from your vacation rental budget:

  • To find the largest rental within your budget, we recommend reserving in the Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at Currituck restaurants, beaches, and activities.
  • In the Currituck area, The sooner your group can book, the better your selection will be. The best vacation rentals are booked very early. Reserving your rental 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental property.
  • Hosts sometimes offer promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special discounts are available for your family.
  • Property management companies typically offer guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Look for your local Currituck visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local information, visitor guide magazines contain discounts for local accommodations and attractions.

How to choose the perfect rental in the Currituck area:

  • Choose a group leader, select your vacation dates, and select a spending budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your family needs. Hip Nautic: Oceanside w/ Private Pool & Hot Tub, Rec Room w/ Pool Table has 6 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed types is regularly accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, reach out to the property owner before you book the home. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to work out what is right for your family.
  • Is your family looking for particular amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental.
  • Some rentals allow pets, and others don't. Allowable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the owner about pets before booking.

Know before you go:

  • Take a copy of the host's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property. Store the manager's information in your smartphone.
  • Record any issues with the rental at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are valuable if there is a dispute.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or washer/dryer. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent many difficulties.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable visitors bothering your peaceful home. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and places you would have not otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can frequently help. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Lock your rental home while you are away. Protect your property!
  • Double-check every room of the property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items at departure. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the property a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, take photographs of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your family have a fantastic time? Many rental managers make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property management company was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
