Corolla Light Resort guests appreciate private beach access with walkways over the dunes, and the most striking, clean, and beckoning beach on the Outer Banks. Corolla Light Resort is loaded with amenities & paid for access under the “cleaning” line of your total. Wrist bands will be supplied at checkin or available for pick up at the front office. Savor a drink or evening out at the only oceanfront restaurant on the Northern Beaches. You could stay all day at the Oceanfront pool complex with games and activities for the kids and a snack bar. Tricks and tips to get the best rental experience:
Sticking to a rental home budget:
- Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer months are the most expensive season in Corolla. Reserve your vacation in the Fall or Spring to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months.
- Some owners offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Ask your host or property manager if special discounts are available for your family.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer customers an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local Currituck visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guides contain money saving offers on nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.
Selecting the best rental:
- Select dates and max budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Corolla Light Resort & Vacation Home Perfection! has 6 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Currituck rentals search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is commonly accessible online. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property owner before you book the home. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to work out what configuration is optimal for your vacation.
- If your family is bringing pets, filter your search for a pet-friendly vacation rental. Get details on breed, size, and type requirements. Some property owners charge additional pet fees.
- Does your family require special amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental
More tips for your visit:
- Add the property manager's contact info to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, intercom or appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents many concerns.
- Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the rental while you are gone, just like you would at home.
- Make a record of any damages to the property during check in, and immediately contact the owner. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are helpful if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Respect the neighborhood. Often, nearby homes are filled by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the rental to confirm you've collected all personal items. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your family have a terrific stay? Many rental home management companies make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property management company was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
