Our top Vacation rental home tips:
Sticking to your spending plan:
- To find the best value, shift your group's trip dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer great weather, , and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Currituck vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer rentals during holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager if your group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Booking websites typically offer guests an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Often, management companies supply Currituck area visitor guide magazines that include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or through a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Currituck area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Planning, picking, and booking your Currituck rental:
- Select vacation week and spending budget.
- Hot Tub
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally available on booking websites. If not, email or call the property manager before you reserve the home. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- Does your group require unique amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .
- Some properties allow pets, and some don't. Acceptable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the property manager about allowable breeds and types before booking.
Advice for a fantastic stay:
- Be sure you get the property manager's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your . Store the host's information in your smartphone.
- Make a record of any damages to the property upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be beneficial if a dispute arises.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or thermostat. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents lots of issues.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a fantastic resource to find the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Keep your rental home locked while you're gone! Don't let burglars spoil your vacation.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected all personal belongings. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- After your trip, leave a review! Property managers rely on good ratings to inspire new bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
