How to get the best vacation property experience:
Sticking to a spending plan:
- Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- To book the most suitable rental for your budget, we suggest reserving in the Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at Currituck restaurants, beaches, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Currituck vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host whether your family qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Booking websites usually offer their guests an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Currituck area visitors guides that include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local companies, or through a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Narrow your Search:
- Start by having your family select trip dates and a maximum budget.
- Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. New sound-view home with private outdoor pool, fireplace, grill, outdoor shower has 6 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts is usually available on booking pages. If not, contact the host before reserving the property. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to establish what is best for your vacation family.
- Some properties allow pets, but some don't. Acceptable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the property manager about allowable breeds and types before booking.
- Looking for special amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
Tips for your stay:
- Add the host's contact info to your phone. Take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Lock your rental home while you're out. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
- To ensure that damages are not linked to your family's stay, inspect the rental for any problem areas when you arrive. Make contact with the property manager immediately to report your findings. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually an incredible resource to find the best local attractions.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Re-check every room of the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all belongings at departure. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Please make sure to walk through the property one final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, remember to take photos and video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a excellent vacation? Most rental websites make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your property and/or property management company was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
