Tips to get the very best vacation property experience:
Finding your perfect vacation home:
- Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer vacations during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- To find the best value, try changing your vacation week to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer warm weather, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Currituck vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your family qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Booking websites frequently offer their guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
- Look for your local Currituck area magazine upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great articles, travel guide magazines have offers and deals for nearby shops and restaurants.
Finding the perfect vacation rental in Corolla:
- Choose dates and spending budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. New sound-view home with private outdoor pool, fireplace, grill, outdoor shower has 6 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Currituck rentals search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is often available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email the property owner before booking your rental. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- Are you bringing the family pet? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Extra fees or charges may be applied to your agreement.
- If there's a specific Currituck beach you long to visit, search for rentals that are either near by, or those that cater to your requirements.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
Additional considerations:
- Put the owner's contact information in your smartphone.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Keep your rental home locked while you're out! Don't let thieves ruin your family vacation.
- To ensure that damages aren't attributed to your family's visit, inspect the rental for any problem areas during check in. Speak to the property manager immediately to relay any issues. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be useful.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome visitors disrupting your peaceful neighborhood. Use the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would have never otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Double-check every room of the vacation property to make sure that you've packed everything at departure. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did you have a fantastic time? Many rental management companies make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or host was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was out of order and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
