Tips for getting the best rental home experience:
Find your perfect vacation home:
- The earlier your group can book a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are reserved early. Reserving your rental up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your vacation rental.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Currituck area. Booking in the Fall or Spring is a good way to save on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable homes. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Currituck vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Property managers sometimes offer promotional rates for veterans. Ask your host or property manager if rate reductions are available for your family before you book.
- Property managers frequently offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
- Look for your local Currituck area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guide magazines have money saving offers on nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.
Narrow your Search:
- First, have your family commit to dates and a budget.
- Note the number beds and the bed configuration your family requires. 1363 - Enchantment by the Sea 6-bed 6.5-bath semi-oceanfront in Corolla, NC, private pool, game room has 6 bedrooms and 7 bathrooms.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed types is regularly accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property owner before reserving the home. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds.
- Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Additional pet fees or charges may be applied to your agreement.
- Are you visiting for a single event? Use a map search to find nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. .
Additional considerations:
- Put the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Lock your vacation home while you're out. Keep your property safe!
- To ensure that damages aren't linked to your visit, inspect the property for any problem areas when you arrive. E-mail the host right away to record any issues. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are a fantastic resource to find the best local beaches.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- When it's time to leave, complete a walk-through to make sure you have not forget anything. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property one final time and look for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, remember to take pictures of the property to record its condition.
- Did your family have a great stay? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property manager was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was defective and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
