Tips to get the best rental home experience:
Getting the most from your vacation rental budget:
- Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer vacations during holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Booking in Spring or Fall is one of our best tips for saving money on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable properties. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months.
- Some property managers offer discounts or promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your group before you book.
- Booking websites frequently offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Many rental management companies supply Currituck area visitor guides which include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Currituck visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Use filters to narrow your search:
- Choose vacation week and budget.
- Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Calypso: Private Pool, Hot Tub, 6 Bedrooms has 7 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed types is generally available on booking websites. If they are not listed, reach out to the host before you reserve the home. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- Some properties allow pets, but others do not. Allowable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the property manager about your furry family members before booking.
- If there's a certain Currituck beach you love, search for homes that are either nearby, or those that cater to your desires.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
Some things to know before you go:
- Take a copy of the owner's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your .
- Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are away, just like you would back home.
- To make sure that no damages are attributed to your family's stay, inspect for any problem areas during arrival. E-mail the host right away to report any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. You will magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often a fantastic resource to find the best local spots.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the property to confirm you've collected everything. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your family have a excellent stay? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your property and/or host was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
