Tips and Tricks to get the best rental home experience:
When to visit Corolla & When to book:
- Summer is the most expensive season in Corolla. Booking your Currituck vacation rental in the Spring or Fall is our favorite way to save money on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable properties. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Currituck vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- The sooner you can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental homes are reserved very early. Reserving your rental up to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and book your rental home.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction.
- Booking websites usually offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Look for your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guides have discounts for local accommodations, restaurants and tours.
How to pick the perfect vacation home in the Currituck area:
- Begin by selecting your potential vacation weeks and a spending budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family requires. Always About The Beach: Condo near the beach in the heart of Corolla has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Currituck vacation rental search.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts is generally accessible on booking websites. If not, email or call the property management company before reserving the property. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks.
- If there's a particular Currituck beach you are crazy about, search for rentals that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
- If your family is bringing pets, you must book a rental that allows animals. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, size, and type requirements. Be aware that some property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
Tips to have a great stay:
- We recommend storing the owner's information in your smartphone.
- To ensure that no damages are attributed to your stay, inspect the rental for any problem areas when you arrive. Call the host right away to report any issues. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or WIFI setup. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent many issues.
- Be a good neighbor. Often times, surrounding homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Lock your rental home while you're out and about. Protect the owner's property and your things!
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the property to make sure you've collected everything. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the property a final time and scan for damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, take video of the rental to record its condition.
- Leave feedback! Property owners rely on good reviews to stimulate more reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your experience find their best vacation home. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
