Tricks and tips to get the perfect Currituck vacation home experience:

Sticking to your spending plan:

  • Summer is the most expensive season in Corolla. Reserve your vacation home in Fall or Spring to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months.
  • Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Some hosts offer promotional rates for veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your group before you book.
  • Property managers typically offer customers an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually costs between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
  • Look for your local Currituck area magazine when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local stories, travel guide magazines have offers and deals for nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.

Filter your search:

  • Select vacation week and max budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the configuration your family needs. 6 BR Oceanside home located on a Cul-De-Sac in Gated Community has 6 bedrooms and 7 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is often available online. If they are not listed, call the property manager before you reserve your home. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to work out what configuration is suitable for your trip.
  • Looking for particular amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental
  • If your group is traveling with pets, filter your search for a property that allows animals. Request specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Usually, property managers charge additional pet fees.

Some things to know before you go:

  • Get the owner's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home. We recommend storing the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
  • To make sure damages aren't attributed to your visit, record any problem areas when you arrive. Contact the property manager right away to record any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. You will increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be a fantastic resource to find the best local beaches and hangouts.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Keep your rental home locked while you're gone! Don't let crooks spoil your trip.
  • Re-check the rental property to make sure that you've packed all personal items at check-out. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did you have a terrific vacation? Many rental home management companies make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your property and/or host was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
