Tips to get the very best vacation property experience:
Finding the best rental home value:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Currituck area. Booking your vacation rental in Spring or Fall is one of our best tips for saving money on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable properties. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season.
- Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Some hosts and property managers offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your group.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Currituck area visitor guides that include special offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Currituck area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Selecting and booking the rightvacation home:
- Select a group leader, select your dates, and choose a budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Twin Suns at Beacon Villas 4 Bedroom Luxury Townhouse has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is commonly accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, contact the property manager before you reserve your rental. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- Visiting for a specific event or attraction? If so, use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available before booking
- Do your family pets travel with you? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional fees or charges might be applied to your contract.
Some things to know before you go:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the instructions to your smartphone.
- Record any issues with the property during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are useful if damages are assessed.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome vacationers disrupting your peaceful home. Practice the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would have never otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Keep the property locked while you are out! Don't let crooks spoil your trip.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all personal items. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the property a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, take photos of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a fantastic vacation? Many rental home management companies make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your property and/or host was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was defective and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
