How to get the best Corolla vacation home experience:

When to book & When to go:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of NC. Booking in the Spring or Fall is one of our best tips for saving money on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable homes.
  • Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer rentals during Winter holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your family qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
  • Booking websites typically offer their guests an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
  • Often, rental management companies supply Currituck area visitor guide magazines that include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Currituck visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Selecting the perfect rental home in Corolla:

  • Select a group leader, select your vacation dates, and select a max budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your group requires. The Lighthouse -Steps to Beach! Luxury Amenities! has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed types is almost always available on booking pages. If they are not listed, email or call the property owner before reserving the rental. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to determine what configuration is right for your vacation group.
  • Is your family looking for unique amenities? Most websites include search filters for amenities. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available before booking.
  • Some rentals allow pets, and some do not. Allowable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the property manager about pets before booking.

Advice for a fantastic stay:

  • Be sure you get the host's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home.
  • Make a record of any damages to the rental during check in, and immediately send them to the owner. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are helpful if damages are attributed to your stay.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or washer/dryer. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents many problems.
  • Be respectful. Often times, adjacent homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are out, just like you would back home.
  • Re-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed all belongings at check-out. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, ensure that you take pictures of the property to record its condition.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Property owners rely on excellent feedback to compel new bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your feedback find their best rental home. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
