Tips and Tricks for getting the best Corolla vacation rental experience:

Cost saving strategies:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal NC. To get the best value, consider changing your family's Currituck vacation to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer warm temperatures, , and greatly reduced traffic.
  • The sooner your group can book a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation homes are booked very early. Reserving your rental property six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation rental.
  • Owners sometimes offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Ask your property manager if special offers are available for your group before you book.
  • Booking websites usually offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
  • Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great information, travel guides contain deals for nearby tours and attractions.

How to choose and book your prefect Currituck rental home:

  • Begin by choosing the best vacation week and a spending budget.
  • Note the number beds and the bed configuration your group needs. The Hunkerdowner: Soundside with a Private Pool, Hot Tub, Dog-friendly! has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts is normally available online. If you don't see them listed, email or call the host before booking the vacation home. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches.
  • If there's a certain Currituck attraction you are enamored with, browse rentals that are either close by, or those that cater to your needs.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
  • If your group is vacationing with pets, you must book a rental that allows animals. Ask for details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Often, property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.

More tips for your visit:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the instructions to your phone.
  • At Check-in, document any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the owner. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
  • Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Respect the neighborhood. Frequently, surrounding homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Lock your rental while you are out. Keep your property safe!
  • Double-check every room of the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all personal items on check-out day. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did your group have a great vacation? Most rental home management companies make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your property and/or property management company was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
