Tips to get the very best rental experience:
When to visit Corolla & When to book:
- Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are high season in the Currituck area. To book the most suitable rental within budget, we highly recommend reserving in Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at the beach and popular attractions.
- Owners sometimes offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group before you book.
- Property managers typically offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
- Many property management companies supply Currituck area visitors guide magazines that include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Narrow your rental Search:
- First, have your group agree to the best dates and a maximum budget.
- Sound Views
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally available on booking websites. If they are not listed, contact the property owner before you book the vacation home. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches. You'll need to work out what bed configuration is optimal for your vacation.
- If your group is bringing pets, search for a rental that allows animals. Request details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Usually, property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
- Looking for specific amenities? Most websites include search filters for amenities.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
Advice for a fantastic stay:
- Take a copy of the owner's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property.
- Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Lock your vacation home while you're out. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
- Upon arrival, note any damages to the property and immediately contact the host. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Respect your neighbors. Often times, surrounding homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Double-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items at departure. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property a final time and scan for any damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the property to record its condition.
- Did your family have a wonderful time? Many rental management companies make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your property and/or host was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was out of order and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
