Our top Currituck vacation rental tips and tricks:
Get the most from your rental home budget:
- Summer time is high season in the Currituck area. To get the largest rental for your budget, we suggest reserving in Fall or Spring months. You'll benefit from lower rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at popular attractions and restaurants. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season.
- The earlier you can book, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are reserved very early. Reserving your rental property up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and book your rental property.
- Property management companies sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. Ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your family before you book.
- Property management companies frequently offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitors guides contain coupons for nearby tours, shops, and attractions.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Select a designated group leader, choose your dates, and choose a maximum budget.
- Determine how many beds and the configuration your family requires. Pet-Friendly Oceanside Home w\/ Heated Saltwater Pool & Hot Tub has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed types is usually accessible online. Otherwise, email the property owner before booking the rental. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds. You will need to establish what configuration is best for your family.
- If there's a particular Currituck destination you are enamored with, look for homes that are either near by, or those that cater to your requirements.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
- Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional fees or costs might be applied to your agreement.
More considerations for your visit:
- Take a copy of the owner's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental.
- At Check-in, note any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the property manager. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome vacationers disrupting your peace. Employ the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and places you would have never otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Lock your vacation home while you are out and about. Keep your property safe!
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected all of your things. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the rental one final time and scan for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, remember to take pictures of the property to record its condition.
- Did you have a excellent time? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property manager was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was out of order and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
