Rental home booking tips and tricks:
How to get the best rental value:
- June, July, and August are high season in the Currituck area. Booking in the Fall or Spring is our favorite way to save money on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable homes.
- Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer vacation rentals during Winter holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Property managers sometimes offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if special discounts are available for your group.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer customers an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Often, property management companies supply Currituck area visitor guides which include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Currituck visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Selecting and booking the right Currituck vacation home:
- Select vacation week and budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. Paws A Bit: New Rental, Dog-Friendly, Pool, Soundfront Views has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is commonly available online. Otherwise, email the property management company before you book the vacation home. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to establish what configuration is best for your vacation family.
- Does your family require unique amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
- Some rental properties allow pets, and others do not. Allowable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the property manager about pets before booking.
Know before you go:
- Be sure you get the property manager's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property.
- To make sure that damages aren't linked to your family's visit, note any problem areas during check in. E-mail the rental manager right away to document any damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be useful.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or coffee maker. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents lots of issues.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable vacationers bothering your home life. Practice the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and attractions you would've not otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Keep your rental home locked while you're out! Don't let burglars spoil your vacation.
- Re-check the vacation property to make sure that you've packed everything on check-out day. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your family have a terrific vacation? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your property and/or property manager was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
