Tips to get the best vacation rental experience:
Sticking to your rental budget:
- Reserve your rental in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Currituck vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- The sooner your group can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental properties are reserved very early. Reserving your rental home six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your rental property.
- Hosts sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your group.
- Property managers frequently offer customers an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Find a copy of your local Currituck visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guides contain deals for nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.
Planning and choosing a perfect Currituck rental:
- Select your vacation dates and maximum budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. Panoramic ocean views and secluded beaches at Starboard Watch in Carova! has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is usually accessible online. If they are not listed, email or call the property owner before you reserve the vacation home. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- If there's an individual Currituck destination you are enamored with, browse homes that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. .
- Do your family pets travel with you? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Pet fees or costs may be applied to your agreement.
More considerations:
- Put the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- At Check-in, make note of any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the host. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Frequently, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can often help. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property when you are gone, just like you would at home.
- Double-check the vacation property to make sure that you've packed everything at departure. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take photos and video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did you have a terrific time? Most rental management companies make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your property and/or host was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was defective and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
