Tricks and tips to get the optimal vacation rental experience:
Find your best deal:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of NC. Reserving a rental home in the Spring or Fall is one of our best tips for saving money on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable properties.
- Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer discounts for veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if discounts are available for your family.
- Booking websites often offer customers an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Currituck area travel guide magazines which will include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Currituck area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Planning, picking, and booking the right Currituck rental home:
- Select a group lead, select your vacation week, and choose a maximum budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. C5051 Carotank Clubhouse. Vacation in Historic Corolla Village, Pool\/Hot Tub has 7 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is regularly available online. Otherwise, email the property owner before you book your rental. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- Are you visiting for a specific attraction? Use a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking
- Are you bringing the family pet? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional pet fees or costs may be applied to your agreement.
Advice for your stay:
- Add the owner's contact info to your phone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- To ensure that damages are not linked to your stay, inspect the rental for any problem areas when you arrive. Make contact with the property manager immediately to relay your findings. If there is a dispute, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, television set or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent quite a few problems.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often a great source for finding the best local beaches and restaurants.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Lock your rental property while you're gone! Don't let thieves spoil your trip.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected all personal belongings. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the property one final time and scan for damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, take photos and video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did you have a great time? Many rental home management companies make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your property and/or property manager was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was wrong and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
