☆☆ GETTING TO THE HOME ☆☆
To ensure a smooth arrival, an all-wheel or four-wheel drive car with at least 7.5 inches of ground clearance is required!! A tow from the sand is $400 and a lot of precious vacation time, so trust us and don’t try the drive in a 2WD car!
Generally guests do one of 3 things to reach the home:
1: Drive a personnel or rental 4x4 car. (We’re happy to recommend local units that allow beach driving. It’s recommended to stop at our satellite parking to reduce tire pressure roughly 10-15 pounds, before driving on to the sand. Usually, it is an easier drive during low tide, and when it is not extremely hot.
2: Guests without a 4x4 are able to park overnight at our satellite parking (1142 Ocean Trail Rd.) and then can be picked up by other members of their group that do have 4x4s.
3. Guests take advantage of the third-event shuttle service that costs roughly $250 - $300 for one side of the journey, and can accommodate up to twelve people at once!

Corolla vacation rental home tips and tricks:
Sticking to a rental home budget:
- Summer months are the most expensive season in Corolla. To book the largest vacation home within your budget, we recommend booking in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll enjoy lower rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at popular Currituck attractions and restaurants.
- In the Currituck area, The sooner you can book a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental homes are reserved very early. Booking your rental property up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation rental.
- Some property management companies offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your group.
- Property management companies frequently offer renters an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
- Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Currituck area travel guide magazines which will include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Currituck visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is generally available on booking pages. Otherwise, reach out to the property management company before booking your rental. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to work out what configuration is right for your vacation family.
- Are you visiting for a single event? Use a map search to browse nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. .
- Remember to include your furry companions! Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Pet fees or charges could be applied to your invoice.
More considerations:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the instructions to your phone.
- To make sure damages are not linked to your family's stay, record any problem areas during check in. E-mail the property manager immediately to record any issues. If there is a dispute, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud visitors bothering your life at home. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would have not otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Lock your rental home while you are out and about. Protect the owner's property and your things!
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected all personal items. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did you have a excellent vacation? Many rental home management companies make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your rental and/or host was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was out of order and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
