Our top Vacation rental booking tips:
Cost saving strategies:
- The sooner your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation homes are reserved early. Reserving your vacation rental 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your vacation rental.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal NC. Reserving a rental home in Fall or Spring is our best tip for saving money on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable homes.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host whether your family qualifies for a discount.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guides contain money saving offers on local tours, shops, and attractions.
How to choose and book the perfect Currituck vacation home:
- Start by selecting a vacation week and a spending budget.
- Note the number beds and the configuration your family needs. Quaint Beach Cottage in 4WD-OBX has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is commonly available on booking pages. If not, reach out to the property owner before booking the vacation property. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches. You'll need to determine what is best for your vacation group.
- Some properties allow pets, and others do not. Allowable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask your host about pets before booking.
- Visiting for a specific attraction? If so, use a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
Some things to know before you go:
- Store the owner's contact information in your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, elevator or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent many issues.
- Lock your rental home while you're out. Protect your property!
- During check-in, make note of any damages to the property and immediately contact the property manager. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Be a good neighbor. Frequently, adjacent homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected all belongings. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did you have a fantastic stay? Many rental management companies make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property manager was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
