Tips and Tricks for getting the best Currituck vacation home experience:

When to visit Corolla & When to book:

  • Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summer is high season in the Currituck area. Booking your Currituck vacation home in Spring or Fall is our favorite way to save money on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer.
  • Some property management companies offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special discounts are available for your family.
  • Property managers usually offer customers an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
  • Look for your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitor guides contain discounts for nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.

How to select the perfect rental home in the Currituck area:

  • Select a designated group leader, select your dates, and choose a max budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your family requires. Quaint Beach Cottage in 4WD-OBX has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Currituck rentals search.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is commonly available online. If you don't see them listed, contact the property management company before you reserve your rental. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to establish what is right for your vacation family.
  • Do your family pets travel with you? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement! Extra fees or may be applied to your agreement.
  • If there's a certain Currituck beach you simply love, keep an eye out for homes that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. .

More tips for your visit:

  • Add the host's phone number to your phone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or WIFI setup. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent lots of difficulties.
  • Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are gone, just like you would back home.
  • To make sure no damages are attributed to your family's stay, note any problem areas upon check in. message the property manager immediately to document your findings. If there is a dispute, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Be respectful. Frequently, nearby homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Just before checking out, complete a walk-through to confirm you haven't leave anything behind. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the rental one final time and look for damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, ensure that you take video of the rental to record its condition.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Property owners rely on great ratings to stimulate future reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will appreciate that you share your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
