Our top Rental home booking tips and tricks:
Get the most from your rental budget:
- The earlier your group can book a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best rental properties are reserved very early. Booking your rental 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your rental home.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of NC. Reserving a rental home in Spring or Fall is our best tip for saving money on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable properties.
- Some owners offer promotional rates for veterans. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your group before you book.
- Property managers often offer renters an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
- Look for your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitor guides contain money saving offers on nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Choosing the best vacation home in the Currituck area:
- Select a group leader, choose your trip dates, and select a maximum budget.
- Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Crabby Crib: Hot Tub, Pet Friendly, Community Pool, Foosball Table, Close to Beach! has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed types is normally accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, call the property owner before you book the vacation home. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches.
- Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Extra fees or costs could be applied to your contract.
- If there's an individual Currituck attraction you crave, keep an eye out for homes that are either nearby, or those that cater to your requirements.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
More tips for your visit:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Add a note with the instructions to your phone, and take a printed backup.
- Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental when you are out, just like you would back home.
- At Check-in, record any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the host. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often a terrific resource to find the best local beaches.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected everything. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your group have a fantastic stay? Many rental home management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or host was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was defective and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
