Tips and Tricks for getting the best Currituck vacation property experience:
Getting the most from your rental home budget:
- Summer time is high season in Corolla. Booking in the Fall or Spring is a good way to save on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable properties. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer.
- Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager if your vacationing group qualifies for a special rate.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
- Often, property management companies supply Currituck area visitors guides which include special deals, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Currituck visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Planning and choosing the rightrental home:
- Choose your vacation dates and spending budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration you need. Private, Secluded, Spacious, Short walk to beach, Sound, Ocean View from deck has 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally accessible online. If they are not listed, email or call the host before you book the property. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to determine which bed configuration is best for your family.
- If there's a certain Currituck beach you long to visit, browse properties that are either nearby, or those that cater to your desires.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
- If your group is vacationing with pets, you'll need to find a property that allows animals. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Be aware that some property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
More considerations for your visit:
- Put the owner's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- During check-in, make note of any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the owner. Record all coorespondence.
- Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious vacationers disrupting your peace. Use the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and places you would have not otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently help. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Lock your rental property while you're gone! Don't let burglars ruin your trip.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected everything. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your group have a excellent vacation? Many rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your rental and/or host was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was defective and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
